400-500 year old maps

All the maps in this post are from The Atlas of Atlases by Phillip Allen, published by Harry N. Abrams (1992/N.Y.) The best features of this large book are the large selection of medieval to 19th century maps, 161 of them. Many are i2 to 1/3 page in size, and in rich colour. Additional illustrations show map decoration and fronticepieces. There were not enough of Asia for my needs, but since I borrowed this from the library I am not complaining. As this is mostly a picture book, the author simply gives an easy on the eyes introduction to each of the historic atlases. All are from the collection in the Birmingham Library, U.K. I thought to use it as a lead to online maps of the same name. But, in fact, most online resources provide much smaller images, and not all of them. So, it turns out that scanning public library books is more fruitful than googling?
